Details of the plan to launch Swimbledon in 2020 are here. Delighted to inform everyone that Christine Parsloe has agreed to take the plan forwards to socialise with wider Merton executives to get support for various steps which need to be taken if Swimbledon is to legally, logistically and operationally get off the ground. This is major progress - we know what those steps need to be. You can read more detail in the proposal or grab the key points here
3rd JULY 2019: SWIM WIMBLEDON MEET WITH LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON
Delighted to inform everyone 3rd July Swim Wimbledon’s team met with Christine Parsloe, Leisure and Culture Development Manager for Merton to further explore the viability of open water swimming in the Lake. Our next steps include:
- Visiting Shepperton open water swim with Merton and meeting the team running that operation to better assess the operational approach needed
- Formulating a plan for the legal, operational and logistical challenges
- Designing a community first business model and income plan to ensure safe open water swimming can sustain itself in Wimbledon Park Lake
